This picture was taken at the Downtown Hilton Skyline restaurant. Such a spectacular panoramic view of Downtown Houston. I definitely will go back again, but at night.
If I am not playing with my Nikon. If I am not on the computer. If I am not discussing world events..... I am playing with Guitar Hero - The PS2 video game. It is very addictive.
One year ago today was my first post to quick and to the pointless. I actually wanted to begin posting back in May/2005, but I did not own a good computer and I really did not have the extra time. As if, I have plenty of time now. NOT! I do try, though. And I have met some great bloggers along the way. I do like to thank goferboy for his tips & tricks and his humorous posts.
In the last year I managed to talk my husband, Chad into starting his own blog. The title speaks for itself, exile on blogspot. I am able to keep in touch with far away friends such as denver or bust. And keep up with what my friends post on their blogs.... fishtankonia gasoline dreams wilwheaton Okay. Wil is not my friend, but you get the idea.
I have recently picked up an awesome hobby of taking pictures. I was given a Nikon D80 DSLR for Christmas. So I will be spending most of the time with my camera and uploading pictures on my flickr-ahhhhh site. Yes, I want to be a [fun] amateur photographer when I grow up.
For those of you who I don't know out there in cyperspace. Thanks for visiting my blog. Drop me a line if you have some advice or just to say Hello. I enjoy meeting new bloggers... really I do.
I am a proud mommy of our baby, Miss. Chica. I received an email [via my flickr website] asking if Luvmutt dot com can feature Chica on their website. A website dedicated to mutts. What a great idea to be able to showcase the non-breed pooches, because they need attention too! WOOF-WOOF
We spent New Years in Austin to see PONG play at HOLE IN THE WALL. Jay and Rebecca joined us for the festivities with Will and Heather hanging out too... What a great time it was.
click here to view the event as a slideshow. I insist.
Congratulations to the Houston Cougars for clinching the C-USA Championship game against Southern Mississippi . What an awesome game to be able to attend. I had so much fun, even though it was so damn cold, but at least it wasn't windy and cold.
We went to a tailgate party to get our spirit-groove on and here is a small video clip of some U of H fans giving Southern-Miss a beer shot gun chant.
Here is a picture I am most proud of to share with the world. Timmay passed out?!? How ironic!
First off... I want to send my sincerest apologies to Timmay & Mike
I am a loser. I am.
I talked Timmay & Mike into joining me to a Pre-Thanksgiving show, the Dimes at Walters on Washington. It was suggested to have dinner before the show at El Tiempo Cantina. I enjoyed two (only 2) regular frozen margaritas during our meal. After dinner we went to the venue. The Dimes were headlining the show with 4 bands on the bill. We entered while the 2nd band was playing (I can't remember who, right now or ever). We were there for maybe about 20 minutes and I desperately felt the need to go to the rest-room. I started to feel really ill to my stomach. It felt as if I had motion sickness. To make a long story short.... I realized I was drunk, drunk and confused. And not the confusion of my surroundings, confused as to how I got drunk and sick with only two Rita's. When I returned from the rest-room to join my friends I had a Lone Star waiting for me, but I could not drink it. No way! I told them I needed to leave and go home.... RIGHT NOW, Please! So we left before the Dimes ever hit the stage. I blame my sickness on the regular Rita's with regular tequila instead of my usual premium tequila- Don Julio. Is his name. The good news is, I did manage to buy an EP. Which is really good, in case anyone cares to know.
I'm in the middle of these two crazy-fun sisters, who are my cousins. Bonnie lives in Lake Ozark, Missouri with her husband and their three lovely children. Lease lives in Washington D.C. with her husband and their cute boston terrier, Ruggie. As for me, I am still living in the hot-humid city of Houston with my darling husband and our mutt, Miss. Chica. If I can recall, I was told this picture was taking at Northwest Mall, which to my surprise is still there.
Three of my photos will feature in Schmap Austin web-based mapping. Here is the message I received...

If you ever see a Widespread Panic show live, be prepared to camp out. I’ve been told that is the best experience and it is true. Our Denver & Bust friends asked us to join them for the last leg of the WSP tour - two nights @The Backyard near Austin and camp at Pace Bend Park. This would be my first to see WSP to which the others, I think they’ve seen too many shows for me to count over the years, but I shouldn’t be shady. Since I have seen QOTSA –like- a lot too.... I really enjoyed the show. It was a bit long and the hippie dancing didn’t distract me as much as I thought in the beginning of their set, but the music was good and tight. I am a fan.
Halloween is here!! This is definitely one of my favorite holidays, since I can remember. It is so much fun to play dress up, attend the parties, and eat loads of CANDY!!
I also loooove the terror that surrounds Halloween. I can remember watching this movie, Sleepaway Camp. Ohhh Yeah! Now that is scary when you are only twelve, at a slumber party with no adult supervision. **sorry, mom**
Here is Miss. Chica dressed up as a kitty cat. Well, almost...
I took advantage of the free offer from Moo (pro-account members) to print my photos on mini cards. The photo quality is really good. They are a bit small, but cute. http://www.moo.com/flickr/
Last night we heard sirens, as if they were right outside our door. We looked out the window and saw a fire truck zoom past our house. By the time we went outside to find out what was going on. There were two more fire trucks with an ambulance not to far behind. We didn’t smell or see any smoke, but we wanted to make sure our neighbor was okay. It was a false alarm, something about a spark that frightened her to call for help. We were all glad she was alright and to know if we ever need help, our local emergency services do respond quickly. Thanks!
Do not let the book title fool you. It's beyond being 'just a geek'. It's a collection of his blog entries. Wil Wheaton is a brilliant writer and FUNNY too. I literally could not put this book down.
This is one of the gifts Chad gave me for my birthday {kisses}. And I LOVE IT! The opening sequence is so cool. One of the many hand-held cameras they gave to the fans to film, to my surprise - Jeff Tweedy from Wilco. Yeah, awe-some.
Long time, no see, or hear from the Cookster..... been kind of busy. I want to pass along the word of a local band, The Dimes. Jay, Chad, & I saw them open for Linus Pauling Quartet at Rudyards a while back, as Jay mentions here about the show. They've just released an EP on August 8th, says David A. Cobb, writer for Houston Calling website. I sure would like to get my hands on that EP, but I can't figure out how to order it or if it is even available to purchase. Their next show is at Walters on Washington opening for The French Kiss on Sept. 22nd.
I had an intimate birthday party hosted by Chad & Rebecca Saturday night. The theme was Alice in Wonderland.
Rebecca made this homemade spectacular cake (on her own) and it was sooooo delicious. Very detailed too. She did a wonderful job and I'm honored she baked it for me.
We went to see A Scanner Darkly - opening night at the Angelika . A good movie. I thought the roto-scoping movie-effect gave more depth to the storyline. The cast is perfect in this movie. Keanu is Keanu at his usual best.Woody Harrelson and Robert Downey Jr. are hilariously interesting to watch. I really enjoyed it and I think you will too.
Tom Yorke's song, Black Swan plays over the closing credits.
Have you ever been to a shooting range? I have. And I will go again soon. It was an interesting experience. We went to an outdoor shooting range. I got to shoot a .357 revolver and .45 semi-automatic. I got very comfortable with the revolver; it’s a better grip for me. I can’t remember the total amount of bullets I got to shoot, but I only made it near the target twice. Go figure! Photo set here
I mentioned this artist name to several of my friends about several times over the weekend. They didn't know who the hell I was talking about?!? Until now...
Yes. It is true. Chad, Jay, Kris16, & I did drive to Austin to see PONG at Room 710. And Room 710 happened to be celebrating their 6th anniversary since opening the doors to the public. Check out what Jay had to say about the mini-PONG-trip and check out my photo set via flickr.
How many times have you been without a bottle opener, while you are staring at your ice cold beer? Too many, right? Here is a tip I read over at Lifehacker dotcom.
I was looking for something similar to Os Mutantes, Y'know, something brazilian-tropicana feel. Jay suggested Grupo Fantasia*. We didn'’t find anything; instead he showed me this brazilian compilation cd
I buy lipstick. I can sample all sorts of lipsticks for hours at a time, especially at Sephora, the store .
Now, do I wear lipstick? Not as often as I'd like to, but I do need to keep my lips moist with lip balm aka My Chapstick.
It is a must. I do not leave home without lip balm. In the past, I have bought Carmax, Blistex, Burt's Bees Wax, but the best is ChapStick-Cherry flavored. ChapStick is the most reliable brand and inexpensive too.
And I enjoy tinted lip balm, such as Rosebud. I hear it's good for treating a diaper rash. Who knew? My favorite is a brand called MISO Pretty.
You can find it at Urban Outfitters, Jubilee in the Heights and most recently I picked one up at Waterloo records in Austin over the weekend. If you are a girlie-girl, give it a try. It's a great gift idea too.
Let me tell you about Clinique-Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. It is awesome! If I'm in a hurry and don't have time to put any makeup. I'll just dab some on my cheeks and lips.
